Center for Restorative History
Smithsonian’s NMAH | January 2021 to November 2025
I worked for the Center for Restorative History for the majority of its six year tenure. It was founded in December of 2019. In January of 2021, I started working as an intern for one of the Center’s oral history projects. Later that year, I began to work for the Center as a curatorial assistant. For a time, I was a Digital Initiatives Specialist. Eventually I became the Project Director of Digital Media. I worked on a lot of projects for the Center, a few of which we made the difficult decision not to publish in order to protect the community members involved.
The Center closed in February of 2026, but it was an invaluable part of my own education as a memory worker who engages with both community members and institutions. It leaves behind the following publications, and much more besides.
To learn more about the work of the center, feel free to download any of the publications displayed below here.
Note: The oral history guide has a Spanish version and “Restorative History [explained]” can be found in Spanish, French, and Vietnamese as well as English.
